Automatic media

‘Automatic media’ is the term used to describe web content that begins playing or moving when the page loads, without the user initiating it.

A video that starts playing when a page loads is a common example, this occurs a lot on social media sites, as well as on some news sites with video content.

Many of these sites will have an option for the user to turn this feature off, but the default setting will be that the audio or video content plays automatically.
